Impacto de programas de actividad física regular en los niveles de estrés de estudiantes universitarios
Main Article Content
Abstract
Perceived stress is a determining factor in the systemic health of university students. The objective of this research was to analyze the impact of regular physical activity on stress levels in 60 students at the State University of Milagro (2025-2026 period). A quantitative approach was employed with a non-experimental, correlational design and certain explanatory nuances. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) were used for data collection. The results, processed using Pearson's correlation coefficient, showed a very strong and significant negative correlation (r= -.943; p <.001). These findings demonstrate that regular exercise explains 88.9% of the variability in emotional distress, drastically reducing stress levels. It is concluded that physical activity is a critical predictor and protective factor against psychological burden, validating the need to implement physical wellness programs in the higher education environment.
